It is with great pleasure Worldsport officially announces the launch of The Gold Coast Hockey Carnival
to be held on the Gold Coast, Australia from July 7th – 13th, 2017
Any School or Club team of school age is welcome at the Gold Coast Hockey Carnival.
This is not an elite event; all teams are welcome regardless of their playing ability.
Our event partner the Sports Super Centre has recently created a World Class competition standard synthetic hockey pitch. The state of the art fully certified facility will be a training ground during the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games and we are delighted to be able to use this facility for our event.
Our Gold Coast Rugby and Netball Carnivals have gained an enviable reputation over the last 27 years and we would be delighted to have teams join us on the Coast in 2017 for our hockey carnival. The ethos of camaraderie and sportsmanship that has been built up at our events since its inception is quite unique and one of the main reasons for our continuing success.
There is no overall champion at our Carnival – instead one deserving group each year is presented with the coveted Spirit Award, decided on a vote of all participants: schools, clubs, referees and organisers. There is also a Barbarian Award appointed to one player from each team.
The objectives of the Carnival are for players and officials to:
Join us for a great week of Hockey mixed with Sun, Surf and Sand – Come and test your skills against national and international teams whilst visiting Australia’s premier theme parks and world class beaches.
The 2017 Hockey event will be held at the Runaway Bay Sports Precinct.
The Sports Super Centre has a brand new world-class, competition-standard synthetic hockey pitch. The state-of-the-art, fully-certified facility will be a training ground for elite athletes competing in the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games (GC 2018). The Sports Super Centre will have one of only a small number of Games-standard hockey pitches on the Gold Coast that is fit for elite international competition. The Gold Coast is fast becoming a hub for the hugely popular sport of hockey.
Local, state, national and international hockey players and teams are invited to get on the grass to experience what it’s like to train and play on a Commonwealth Games facility
The Sports Super Centre is a leader in the sport and recreation industry. As well as featuring the most modern training facilities for both elite and beginner athletes, it is also a dedicated training camp. The accommodation is affordable, and the facilities are designed to cater to everyone, from the demands of elite athletes, to the needs of those wanting a better and healthier lifestyle.
The Centre’s professional facilities are enhanced by the surrounding area, and a year-round subtropical climate that is conducive to sport. As well as its appeal to elite sports practitioners, the Centre incorporates community facilities, which include a Sports Medicine centre, health spa, gymnasium, Olympic aquatic centre, stadium and a children’s party area for ‘active’ celebrations.

Because most local school teams participating must play after school some matches will have to be played later in the day and as a result the draw will show night matches running under lights!
The Runaway Bay Seagulls Club will be open to cater to all teams with special Carnival dinner deals available. The Club will be open to all those supporters and management ready to relax and unwind after or even during each day!
Ice Baths
As an added bonus to our carnival teams we will be offering Ice Baths on carnival match days to aid recovery
Pool Sessions
As part of our event the Sports Super Centre pool will have dedicated lanes available for GCRC teams to use for pool recovery sessions on each match day.
Physio & Massage
The Sports Super Centre has a dedicated Sports Med team who will be offering special rates on Physiotherapy and Massage services to GCRC teams on match days

Gold Coast Hockey Carnival – Match Day 1 (Matches 9 – 5pm)
Day 3 – Wed
Worldsport Beach Games at Kurrawa Surf Club (8.30 – 11.30am)
Our “Beach Games” will showcase new beach activities for our sports players featuring our infamous Beach Haka. A great mix and mingle for the players – whilst managers and coaches relax on the Surf Club balcony enjoying a continental breakfast whilst all the action happens on the beach below.
Spend the rest of the day enjoying all the pleasures the Gold Coast has to offer.

Theme Park Day – Brave some of the tallest, fastest thrill rides in the world, and lots more.

LOCAL TEAM APPLICATIONS
“Local” teams from the Gold Coast and nearby districts who require neither accommodation nor transport can participate in the eventfor a locals price.
SUPPORTERS
Team supporters are very much welcomed to our events.
Our tours often provide a once in a lifetime opportunity not only for the players but also for family and friends.
Supporters may choose to be part of the “Player” group and participate in all that group’s activities or have a separate supporters’ itinerary taylor made to co-ordinate with that of the tour team. Supporters may be more interested in activities such as whale watching, deep sea fishing, hinterland drives, golf etc., than theme park visits, your options are endless … just ask!
Because tours vary in group size, length of stay, activity choices, accommodation type etc., it is impossible to provide an average tour cost until a team registration has been received and processed.

After receiving your completed application form, WorldSport will tailor a tour to suit your particular needs. If you wish to tour for longer (or less) than the event week, simply inform us and this will be organised. We also have many players and manager’s families and supporters come along for the ride. We can create supporters tours that align with the school or club’s itinerary – so that you can have as much support as you need!
